Embrace Capitalism Petition
The current economic crisis was caused by excessive government intervention in the markets, even though the Keynesian left-wing claims that free markets caused the mess. How then, do they explain the huge roles that Fannie and Freddie and Greenspan's policies (specifically his low rates) played in the markets? Most economists agree that these two things played a big part in creating the housing bubble which eventually led to this crisis, but many still refuse to accept that both of these causes were in fact not capitalism. Fannie and Freddie are Government Sponsored Enterprises, which certainly goes against capitalist theory. Greenspan given the power to to manipulate the rates is an idea that lies in the middle of Keynesian theory- having a state-controlled entity set the interest rate. For these reasons (among others,) it was in fact government intervention in the market and not free market capitalism that created this crisis.
It is time to move away from government intervention. We need to let the market set the rate and let businesses compete with each other fairly. It is time to stop rewarding companies that are failing at the cost of hurting companies that are succeeding because that is not fair nor is it capitalism. Sign this petition if you are against the bailouts and government intervention- basically if you are a true capitalist.

We have been fooled by a smooth talking socialist, with an agenda destructive to our freedom, and powered by the very sort fear mongering he criticized.

I do support free and open markets -- free market capitalism that is laissez faire based, that are free of monopoly control -- I believe government sanctioned monopolies like AT&T's Ma Bell system that government approved of before they realized it needed to be broken up and before they did so are bad. Government should not allow monopolies or protect them as government initially did with AT&T before realizing the harm AT&T was doing for consumers and broke the company up on antitrust grounds. Government intervention can be good or bad -- intervention to bailout banks with taxpayer money was bad and was tantamount to socialism.
Government breaking up business and financial monopolies though to make closed markets more open and competitive is fine but bad government interventions are unacceptable. When government regulates for the good of consumers and enforces consumer protectionist regulations to ban mega mergers and breakup monopolies that is good for the country and free markets. Say no to crony capitalism where monopolists reduce consumer choices and competition, say no to casino capitalism where financial institutions can take big risks and gamble with our money etc -- insist we return to free market capitalism.
